So, this ship got stuck in my head a few weeks back. Here's my version...

E-9a Explorer

Loronar's E-9 Explorer is a relatively new entry into the scout ship market. While it is a bit too expensive for independent ownership, it has proven popular with corporate scouts. In addition, the versatile design has spawned at least two variants, a fast courier transport and a patrol starbomber.

Craft: Loronar's E-9 Explorer
Type: Scout Ship
Scale: Starship (+6D)
Length: 40 meters
Skill: Space Transports: Loronar E-9
Crew: 2 (1 @ +5) & 1 Gunner
Crew Skill:
Astrogation 4D+1
Gunnery 3D+2
Piloting 4D
Shields 3D
Sensors 4D
Passengers: 4
Cargo Capacity: 10 metric tons
Cost: 250,000 (new), 150,000 (used)
Consumables: 6 months
Hyperdrive Multiplier: x1
Hyperdrive Backup: x12
Nav Computer: Yes
Maneuverability: 1D
Space: 6 (3D)
Atmosphere: 330; 950 kmh
Hull: 3D
Shields: 1D (Stealth Shields)
Sensors:
Passive 30 / 1D
Scan 60 / 2D
Search 90 / 3D
Focus 3 / 4D
Weapons:
1 Dual Blaster Cannon
Fire Arc: Turret
Crew: 1
Skill: Starship Gunnery
Fire Control: 2D
Space Range: 1-5/10/17
Atmosphere Range: 100m-500m/1km/1.7km
Rate of Fire: 2D Auto-Fire
Damage: 4D

VARIANTS: (Use Above Stats, except as noted)
    E-9b Bomber
Description: The Bomber variant of the E-9 strips out most of the ship's carrying capacity to make room for a pair of heavy anti-ship missile launchers.
    Passengers: None
    Cargo Capacity: 250 kilograms
    Consumables: 1 month
    Weapons: (In addition to Stock)
    2 Heavy Warhead Launchers (Fire-Linked)
    Fire Arc: Front
    Crew: 1 (Pilot or Co-Pilot)
    Skill: Starship Gunnery
    Rate of Fire: 1
All Other Stats vary by Weapon Type
Ammo: 6 per launcher. May select any Weapon from this list, depending on Availability.

    E-9c Courier
Description: The Courier variant exchanges Consumables for improved Cargo Capacity. It is used primarily for messenger service and light transportation, as even its improved cargo capacity is not sufficient for the ship to be competitive in the light freighter market. However, the courier is popular with special forces and intelligence agencies as an insertion platform.
    Passengers: 10
    Cargo Capacity: 20 metric tons
    Consumables: 2 months

House Rule Notes:
    SHIELD & SHIELD CONTROL: 1D @ 1D
    VELOCITY MODIFIER: 1D+2 Flight

i like the ship and all but, just a thought, maybe change it to either E-9e Explorer to go along with the secondary lettering scheme or change it to the E-9a Adventurer. personally i like the sound of E-9a Adventurer, it sounds more upbeat.

I'm inclined to agree, but the original artist specifically named it the E-9 Explorer, and I decided to honor his wishes.

Something that always gets me with Star Wars ships is the ones that have only a single turrett, usually ventral or dorsal.

Like, do you not realize the space means they can come from the other side?

Because a lot of these designs are based off the original trilogy, where the scenes used is based off of WWII gun footage.

More than one WWII bomber didn't have a bottom turret because altitude was an asset in attacks. But, when fighter pilots figured that out...

I always figured that a ship's pilot just just roll to give the turret the best shot. Which only works against a tightly bound attacking group. If they're trained to fight individually, that makes them more dangerous to the ship, but more vulnerable to fighter escort.

A couple possible explanations...

1). Economy - Some ship owners and builders may wish to avoid the complexity and cost of a second turret. They may also wish to avoid the necessity of an additional gunner to operate it (the extra person cuts into consumables).

2). Legality - It's also possible that a ship can be legally fitted with a single weapon, while fitting it with a second incurs additional fees, licensing, background checks, etc, which some ship owners may not conside worth the hassle.

Just some thoughts...

Thanks for the Link, I bookmarked his stuff.

I may see about using this ship in my first edition game I'm running, just need to make a couple minor changes to it.
