And here it is. Landspeeder engine coolant has the same dispersion of minus 1D damage to blaster weapons. Cracken's Rebel Field Guide. Page 70

Doesn't have to be some special blaster diffusion aerosol. Ordinary landspeeder coolant does it. So you just arrange for an industrial accident that floods the streets the stuff, maybe a cargo barge has a mishap and drops several tanks of the stuff.

The negative modifier doesn't stack. But I think it should. An extra -1D per range band would be enough to make a long range shootout hopleless.

You could also say that a particularly heavy cloud of it is there so the modifier if greater than normal. -3D would make most blasters worthless. Cracken was describing using man-portable 1 liter canisters, a busted industrial tanker could make a much heavier cloud...

What if the planet the PCs land on has very strict laws for blasters, and the PCs have to check them in when they land? Melee weapons might be allowed for self defense (after all it's hard to hit an innocent bystander with a stray shot from a broadsword).

This would also make hold out blasters more popular among those who can't use a melee weapon.

(Depending on the scenario, of course...)

As a GM, I can't tell you how many times I had the players running from something and they turn a corner and bump into/trip into a couple of stormtroopers - just to force them not to use their high blaster skills and use their lower brawling/STR rolls.

That didn't quite work for Han Solo on the Death Star. Razz Mr. Green

Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them.

After years of pulling this on the players, one of them got wise to it. While being chased by stormtroopers, they turned the corner and ran into another group of them. The player, who was usually our leader, pulled a grenade out and yelled "BATON RACE!" and shoved it at the stormtrooper.

I was laughing so hard at this that I just let the stormtrooper run down the hallway, around a corner and there was a muffled explosion. I've never let my friend forget that. Laughing

ROFLMAO! I wish I could have seen that in person, just to see the look on your player's face. Mr. Green

That could work well. Plus the.groups.mechanic has a chance to notice.it too.

Have the pirates ambush them with an emp or something, disabling their blaster tech.... and then allow them to find fresh melee weapons that did not get exposed to the emp...
