Fiachre Naiar

Character Basics and Stats

Date of Profile: 9 BBY
Character Name: Fiachre Naiar
Pronunciation: (fee-ok-er ny-ar)
Character Type: Contract assassin
Gender/Species: F/Human
Homeworld: Lucazec
Born: 48 BBY (39 standard years old)
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 55 kg

Physical Description:
Fiachre Naiar is a modestly attractive human female with thick brown hair that is long in the front and short in the back—a hair style known as a ‘stacked’ or ‘graduated’ bob. She has also always had her striking, light-blue colored eyes, which have charmed more than their fair share of males over the years. Additionally, she has several large tattoos of dragons and snakes that cover over 40% of her body. While she may have previously used her sex appeal to her advantage when negotiating bounties or persuading individuals to give up information, these days she is just as often wearing her helmet instead. She is of average height and weight for a human female, though she is built sturdier and stronger than most human females due to her masteries of calisthenics and acrobatics.

Her preferred weapon is the katar, and by extension the vibro-katar. A pair of the latter with 30-centimeter blades serves as her main armament. These weapons she usually conceals in the long sleeves of either an overcoat or another garment, and she can arm herself with them with a twitch of her wrists. Her preferred method of conducting combat is through acrobatic attacks, which are difficult for an opponent to defend against. She will strike away enemy attacks in order to get inside that enemy’s weapon arc, and from there she uses her vibro-katar’s special punching attack to either kill or severely wound her enemy. Her skill in the use of vibro-katars goes beyond expertise so much so that she slew eighteen Pantoran royal guards in a single instance when executing a contract on their world. The incident prompted her acquisition of the nickname “The Devil of Pantora.” She was only twenty-six at the time, and the Pantoran government was so insulted by her stealthy incursion, her hyperefficient slaughter, and her flawless escape that it is still offering a bounty of 500,000 credits for her capture.

While on the job, rather than wear her helmet, Fiachre wears a black silk bandana tied around her head just above her ears, so only her eyes and hair are visible. She feels that helmets dampen her perception needlessly, so she only wears hers when absolutely necessary. She has also been known to wear wigs, and owns a large number of them in varying styles and colors. She also wears a dark gray suit of Nagai electromesh armor, which fits her like a glove, and tends to wear a thick, fur-lined cloak over it. She chose this armor because it tends not to hinder her movements as much as other available armors. She arms herself with the aforementioned vibro-katars, a backup heavy blaster pistol, a grappling gun, two Rodian Throwing-Razors, and a dozen throwing knives. Her skill with thrown weapons, particularly the Rodian Throwing-Razors, is also high; and in combination with her expertise with the vibro-katar, has contributed to her 100% kill (or occasionally capture) rate. When not on the job, which can be a rare occurrence for Fiachre, she wears modest civilian clothing—including thick coats, hats, and wigs that help conceal her face. She has almost a dozen prices on her head and she wishes to remain inconspicuous.

For each four dice a character has in Calisthenics, that character receives a +1p bonus to all his or her other STR skills. — 2 vibro-katars (STR + 2D [5D+2], which are hidden in the sleeves of her garment. Once each round, Fiachre may make a single katar “punching” attack, which requires a Difficult Melee combat: vibro-katar skill check. Such an attack, if successful, is armor-piercing for -2D) [House-ruled]
— 2 Repulsor Rodian throwing-razors (STR + 1D+2 [5D+1]; after initial attack, victim must make a Difficult Stamina skill roll for three minutes to avoid 3D additional damage due to excessive blood loss. Weapon automatically hovers back to owner.) [Galladinium’s Fantastic Technology (page 89)]
— 12 throwing knives (STR +1D [4D+2]) (hidden in various places under her clothes; for example, in her boots and at the nape of her neck under her armor) [Rulebook (page 228)]
Caelli-Merced Sentinel IV blaster (5D+2; this weapon adds +5 to the difficulty for any user with a Blaster skill of less than 4D, but anyone with a Blaster skill of 6D or higher gets a +1D to hit.) [Gundark’s Fantastic Technology (page 28 )]
Susuax Verti-Go grappling gun [Gundark’s Fantastic Technology (page 83)]

— modified Corellian YG-4210 space transport (The Evening Redness. Modifications include the addition of a shield generator; a 1.5x hyperdrive; maneuvering jets; two multi-purpose warhead launchers, and black market software designed to broadcast the Evening Redness itself as any number of other ships, if needed) [Star Wars Gamer Issue 2]

Other Resources:
In addition to the inventory listed above, Fiachre also has approximately 850,000 credits stashed in several secret locations only she knows. All of her belongings have been paid for in cash, she has never been arrested, and she has no lines of credit or accounts in her name anywhere. This makes her nearly invisible to the banks, and even more invisible to law enforcement. In addition to this, she also owns a property which contains a small residence on the large moon Jandar VI-h (officially known as CrPS 1531 F-h), which is within the extremely distant Companion Cresh satellite galaxy of the Galaxy proper. Companion Cresh is the third most distant of the Galaxy's seven satellite galaxies, and has not been explored by the Empire (or its predecessor, the Republic) thus far, though several fringe spacefaring civilizations and colony worlds are known to exist within it.

Special Abilities:

Force Skills:
CONTROL: 4D+1
SENSE: 3D+2
ALTER: 1D+1

Fallanassi Powers:
Immerse, immerse another, sense scribing, scribing, image, image self,* image another.*

Acrobatic Combatant:
For each die Fiachre has in (A) Acrobatics, she gets +1 to any skill that could involve acrobatics, but she has to specify that she is using acrobatics for a given action. For example, if Fiachre chooses an acrobatic Dodge rather than a standard one, since she has 4D+1 in (A) Acrobatics, she may add +4 to the result of that Dodge roll. This applies to any skill which could conceivably be acrobatic in nature, but only applies when Fiachre uses acrobatics in conjunction with the skill. Examples include: Brawl, Brawling parry, Melee combat, Melee parry, Dodge, Climbing/Jumping,, etc.

* The Fallanassi powers “image self” and “image another” are both house-ruled Fallanassi powers that have to do with using the Force to change the appearance of either oneself or another willing participant. “Image self” allows the user to change the way his or her face looks at will (though he or she cannot change his or her hair), and for one Force Point and an Easy Control roll, the user can change his or her entire personage to a different species and/or a different gender for 24 hours (this includes hair). The user may choose to end this illusion any time prior to the 24 hours. “ Image another” is nearly the same thing, except the Fallanassi can change another willing being’s face for only 2D hours, and for one Force Point and a Moderate Control roll and an Easy Sense roll the user can change the entire personage of that being (just like in the above ability) for 12 hours.

Game Notes:
Wanted for Questioning in Multiple Systems:
So far, Fiachre Naiar has led a prosperous career, however at times the hunt has necessitated her behavior take a lethal turn. While she ‘tries’ to keep her killing at a minimum, she feels that death is the only way to silence someone for good or to completely incapacitate them. This ruthless behavior has landed her smack-dab in the crosshairs of multiple planetary governments. Large bounties have been placed on her head to effectuate her removal from Galactic society, but so far she has eluded all attempts to capture her, mainly because of her Fallanassi training in illusions.

In addition to starsystem and planetary governments, at least four separate criminal organizations are offering credits for her capture, including the crime syndicate of Arok the Hutt. The Empire itself is offering a reward of 18,000 credits for information leading to her apprehension. These bounties and warrants exist because she has killed a large number of beings—many of them incidental bystanders—over the course of her career. Certain jobs even required her to kill ten or more individuals merely to gain access to her true target. “Sometimes,” as she has said, “people just get in the way.” In fact, she has killed so many innocent bystanders that even the Assassin’s Guild will not associate with her.

Capsule

Background:
Fiachre is from Lucazec, a planet known as the world of origin of the Fallanassi, an ancient and all-female Light Side Force sect. Though Fiachre was at one time an adept of the Fallanassi, once she decided to become a bounty hunter, her ability to access the White Current (as the Fallanassi call the Light Side of the Force) was diminished by the Dark Side. However, she retained a number of the skills she learned as a Fallanassi, the most salient of which being her ability to create and maintain illusions, particularly those concerning her own appearance or the appearance of others. This ability has contributed significantly to her unerring success as a contract assassin over the years. Pictures of her taken on different worlds all depict what appears to be a different individual each time, and it took the Imperial Security Bureau a long time to figure out that they were looking for one woman instead of fifteen or twenty.

Personality:
One who had only known Fiachre Naiar as a friend would hardly suspect her as a ferocious killer who traded blood for money as though it were a commodity. Most of Fiachre’s friends would describe her as a humorous yet morbid individual, and in general, she is a pleasant person to be around. She almost keeps her personal life completely separate from her life as a ruthless assassin, but her periodic jokes about death and gore at times can get excessive for other beings. To the more perceptive among them, such jokes betray her line of work.

Fiachre currently takes less than ten contracts per standard year, though many are offered to her via code-named contacts over the Holonet. However, since she doesn’t have any utility for any more money than she already has, she spends the rest of her time either resting at her residence on Jandar VI-h, or traveling the Galaxy with her friends. One of them owns a small bulk freighter, and he sometimes takes Fiachre and the rest of their friends with him when he is hauling interesting cargo or heading to an interesting world.

Objectives:
Fiachre envisions for herself a quieter life where her unique set of skills is no longer of use to her and where she can sit quietly on some backwater world and tinker with droids and other things until she becomes old and infirm and loses her mind. Despite the evil things she has done—and will continue to do, until then—there is a small part of Fiachre Naiar which exists below the personality of the assassin which wishes that the violence were not so necessary.

A Quote:
“Dead men tell no tales.”

Relationships to other Characters:
Fiachre is generally quite suspicious of new individuals entering her personal space since so many parties are interested in her capture. As a result of this, she spends most of her time in the Outer Rim, or even further out in the Rishi Maze or Companion Cresh. These areas are all far from the reach of the Empire and other parties who wish to apprehend her. If the PC’s happen to find and engage Fiachre, she will be friendly, though she will probably give an alias and not admit to knowing anything about assassination or hired guns. It will take very perceptive PC’s to notice that she does not appear to be who she says she is. If the PC’s do happen to figure it out, and if the characters offer her an amount of money to kill an individual, and the price is too low, Fiachre will walk away without saying a word. However, if the price is good and/or Fiachre wants the money, she will still walk away silently, but she will then send an intermediary to arrange a second meeting with one or two of the PC’s at a better location to allow for a more frank discussion.

Wait, so the long front hair...covers her face? Because that's the impression I got when I first read this. Shocked

I know that's not what you meant, Error, but... 8)

Aside from that, this is a compelling character.

Hehe. Well, I'm not a hair stylist, so I can't name the cut she has in my head. A bob? A pageboy? No idea.

But once I figure out what it's called, I'll clarify.

EDIT: Okay, the cut is called either a stacked or graduated bob. See what I mean by "long in the front and short in the back"? (LOL I guess that makes the stacked bob the antipode of the mullet then.)

However, I'm not quite sure how to put that into her profile without sounding like a hairdresser, though...

Changed the way Acrobatics works with this character, and also changed her last name again. For some reason, out of all the names I have generated (I have a huge list) I still can’t find a last name for her that rolls off the tongue in conjunction with her first name. Any suggestions are welcome.

So far, out of my list I've tried: Sthiggo, Gedu, and now Naiar.

There's many naming conventions when it comes to last names on Earth. There's no reason that the (First name) (Last name) pattern should be adhered strictly to in Star Wars.

In particular, Chiss (off the top of my head) names do not follow this pattern, and even have a 'use name' usually cobbled together from the middle of their true, or full name.

The 'von' or 'van' particles and their like (general name: Nobiliary particles - there's of course several rather than the two examples I've given) can modify names by indicating nobility in a variety of ways.

Spanish has its own thing - a person's name often consists of a given name (simple or composite) followed by two family names (surnames). The first surname is usually the father's first surname, and the second the mother's first surname.

So you might make your own thing here - how about a full name that is Fiachre ul-Sthiggo bel Lucaz, or something similar?

I'd have to think about that, but it's certainly something I could see doing for this. Then the character could have the first name for short. I was thinking of giving her a short middle appellation that wasn't capitalized anyway. I love naming things...when you hit the right one it's so nice.

Mediate, I shall. Naiar was actually the first name that came to me when I thought her up. So I might stick with that, unsure... Thank you though, for these things for me to think about. Did you ever see one of my other creations: Azokté iln Sheelal?
