To answer your question, Mojomoe, normally it would be 6D total. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

I disagree. Doubling the number of weapons earns a +1d, IMHO, not simply adding in more weapons. That and you don't fire three out of four laser cannon. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

^ that's what I thought, and what we've always done.
Basically, it doesn't matter what it's called (double, quad, etc), the damage is the damage. Although, I believe I caught something in one of the recent Shooting Womprats podcasts where Don mentioned increased dmg with more barrels, so there's that. |

It is fire-linked RAW
Look at the rule book or tramp freighter |

What page in Tramp Freighters? I skimmed quickly but didn't see it. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

Page 40 & 41 Second edition Tramp Freighters.
Page 127 R&E Book, has different rules.
Quote: | Fire-linked. Some weapons are fire-linked: several
weapons are linked together to fire as one group. The
game statistics are for the weapons when fire-linked.
(For example, an X-wing has four fire-linked laser
cannons. When the cannons are fired, all four laser
cannons go off and hits do 6D damage.)
Fire-linked weapons can be rigged to fire separately,
but subtract damage, using the rules on combined
fire. (Let's use the X-wing example. The four firelinked
laser cannons do 6D damage. The pilot decides
to fire each cannon separately. Using the "combined
actions" rule, four characters working together get a
bonus of +1D+2. That means subtract-lD+2 from each
cannon's damage: the cannons individually do 4D+1
damage.) |

I'd never really thought about it before, but if one chose to fire individually (bypassing them being fire-linked), they could (in theory) do more damage.
Now that's provided the damage they were doing was enough to get past the resistance roll by the target, of course. _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

Right, four lower power shots or 1 high power shot. Gives flexibility. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

I prefer the 2E version, where the fire-linking dropped it by a D instead of by pips; it made it simpler to just transfer either 1D or 2D from Damage to Fire Control. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
