Some land based artillery blurs the lines between starship gunnery and blaster artillery. Land based artillery normally has to deal with variables such as atmospheric density and gravitational effects as well as line of sight problems. Space based artillery normally has more powerful target prediction software that can help target dodging fightercraft that are moving at much higher velocities than atmospheric craft can obtain. I believe that starship gunnery skills also include that difference into the use of the weapons because of the different targeting computers. For instance, a former starchip gunnery officer might be able to transition to land based artillery easier than the reverse because a land based system would be simpler to learn whereas the space based artillery would have a longer training period.
